Mission

Candriam’s ESG team has a wide mandate and works together with fund management as regards the analysis of corporate and country- based environmental, social and governance (ESG) opportunities and risks and the integration into fund strategies. 
 
This is a rare opportunity to join a leading and internationally recognized sustainable asset manager.
The team looks for a bright and motivated ESG professional who has expertise in researching and engaging on climate/biodiversity-related challenges and opportunities, confronting the broad range of industries like Energy, Materials, Transportation or Utilities, but also Financials.
The candidate should demonstrate excellent organizational and communication / negotiation skills, ability to manipulate complex climate or biodiversity data. As our approach to engagement includes active voting, plus related escalation measures, such as AGM statements or resolution cofiling, experience in voting will be also appreciated.    

Responsabilities

Your role will include (but isn’t limited to):

  • The analysis of climate (and biodiversity) related risk and opportunities within high-impact (hard to abate) sectors, and the assessment of the governance, strategy and performance of companies using Candriam's unique and proprietary sustainability analysis & climate methodology; this will be done in full collaboration with our ESG sector and thematic specialists 
  • Coordination of our Climate and biodiversity Engagement strategies (Dialogue & Voting aspects) in close collaboration with ESG analysts, portfolio management teams and clients. 
  • Engagement with companies on above-mentioned ESG topics  
  • Engagement specific reporting to internal and external parties on outcomes and eventual escalation measures:  
  • Active participation to industry working groups and collaborative initiatives on climate and/or biodiversity.

Profile

• Master degree (or equivalent) in economics, finance, engineering, (environmental) sciences, …
Advanced degree in related field (CFA, …) is an advantage.
• Requirement of about 2 years of experience in Voting and Engagement activities.. Prior experience in ESG research & analysis is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of and interest in Climate and Biodiversity issues
• Good understanding of finance / Understanding of and experience in sustainable investing.

• Ability to convey ideas convincingly.
• Excellent team player, happy to share knowledge and focus on collective success.;
• Good communication and writing skills
• Problem solver, organized, methodical and pragmatic in his/her work.
• Excellent work ethic
• Strong Analytical & judgement skills, with excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
• Native English or Dutch (and highly proficient in English) or French (and highly proficient in English).
