Mission

The "Legal Marketing" team, with team members based in Luxembourg, Paris and Brussels, is in charge of monitoring and applying the laws, regulations in more than 40 countries where Candriam markets its investment funds and investment services as well as those of its affiliated companies, including of the New York Life Investments Group and third parties.

Candriam is looking for a Legal Advisor to strengthen this team, based in Brussels.

Responsabilities

Your role will be as follows:

  • You monitor, from a legal point of view and on an ongoing basis, the laws, regulations in the relevant countries where we are marketing investment funds and investment services of Candriam and its affiliated companies, including of the New York Life Investments Group.
  • You analyze the impact of legislative and regulatory changes in relation to the marketing of funds and investment services by Candriam and advise accordingly all internal departments.
  • You accompany the legal implementation of Candriam’s Commercial Guidelines in relation to all kind of commercial documents in whatever form.
  • You are a key legal contact within Candriam for any request of proposal (RFPs) representing Legal Marketing in key milestone decisions for such RFPs.
  • You draft, negotiate and follow-up on distribution and intermediary agreements, discretionary portfolio management/advisory agreements in close collaboration with Candriam sales teams and other business units. This entails also a focus for this matters on Candriam’s privileged partners in Belgium.
  • You support other Candriam departments (Client Relations and Sales teams, the Communication department,…) in any legal matters related to Candriam’s marketing activities of funds and investment services and this on any support: documents, website, Apps, Social media, …and this in a large variety of countries, such as most of EU members states, USA, Asian countries, MENA-region, LATAM-region, …
  • You will interact with the huge network of Candriam’s external law firms for the follow-up of legal and regulatory requirements in relation to the marketing of Candriam’s funds and investment services in all the countries where Candriam is active though its branches, affiliates or representative offices.
  • You are an energetic, talented negotiator with a passion for being a bridge between the passionate world of law/regulations and the business teams and management while being able and patient to explain legal principles and insights to non-legal trained colleagues.
  • You will be member of a highly experienced and interactive international team sharing knowledge and experience.

Profile

Technical Skills:
- You have a passion for finance, economic and commerce law, and manage well fundamentals of law on obligations/contract law,
- You are familiar with the UCITS and the AIFMD environment as well as MIFID.
- Knowledge of ESG/SFDR regulations is a plus.

- Good team player
- Strong organizational skills to anticipate and respect tight deadlines
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Analytical skills : Ability to analyze complex legal and financial information is crucial.
- Communication skills: Both written and verbal communication is essential.
- Problem-solving skills: The ability to (learn to) resolve legal issues effectively is important, especially in a dynamic financial environment.
- Collaboration skills: to be able to work with other departments within Candriam.
